Production Assistant - Donut Media
We’re looking to hire production assistants who love making stuff for the internet. You’re a student of YouTube & social media. You understand the evolving *game* that is content creation in 2024. You’re independent, multifaceted, and resourceful, with an interest in cars and comedy. If you dig Donut Media and want a career in automotive content, that’s a huge plus!
Freelance, based in-person at our Inglewood, California headquarters – with the opportunity to grow to full time or move on to a higher role (editing, directing, writing, hosting, whatever).
$225 day rate.
Every day at Donut is different but here’s a general idea of responsibilities:
- Make off-site and on-set runs using Donut Production vehicle
- Ability to communicate needs to Directors and Producers.
- Make purchases with company credit card and petty cash and maintain accurate receipts for accounting
- Work with Production Coordinator to:
- Maintain inventory of all video production equipment, including cameras, lighting equipment, audio devices, tripods, and other accessories.
- Regularly update the inventory database to track equipment status, location, and maintenance history.
- Collaborate with Producers & Directors to understand their equipment needs for upcoming projects.
- Prep production equipment including but not limited to:
- Camera and production equipment
- Craft services, snacks, coolers, tables, chairs, pop-up tents
- Automotive go-bags/mechanic’s tools
- On Set Responsibilities:
- Fulfill production assistant responsibilities on set as instructed to by the director or producer of the project.
- Drive picture/hero cars.
- Assist the camera/audio recording team on set with first assistant camera or sound utility responsibilities.
- Assist with props/set dressing on set.
- Loading and unloading camera equipment and gear in production vehicles.
- Setting up craft service and crew meals.
- Building and tearing down basecamp and maintenance of basecamp.
- Assisting and supporting talent, hosts, and miscellaneous crew.
Qualities:
- Highly organized and detail-oriented.
- Understanding the value of thorough communication and when to call vs. text vs. email.
- Ability to work in a demanding, high pressure, and time sensitive environment.
- Have a valid drivers’ license.
- Having a mindset of flexibility and willingness to wear multiple hats
- Assistant camera, data management, and camera operating experience is a huge plus.
- A deep love of YouTube.
- Good comedic sense + awareness.
- Interest in cars and/or have watched Donut Media.
- Having a generally pleasant vibe that people want to be around.
